Spicy Apple Chutney Recipes

Ingredients : |
2 tbsp vegetable oil
1 clove garlic, crushed
1 tsp grated fresh ginger
2 fresh red chilies, seeded and chopped
2 tbsp mustard seeds
1 tsp mixed spice
1 tsp ground turmeric
15 whole black peppercorns
2 tsp ground cumin
8 large cooking apples, cored, peeled and
sliced
170 ml white vinegar
125 g sugar |
Method :
- Heat oil in a large saucepan, add
garlic, ginger and chilies and cook over a medium heat for 2-3
minutes.
- Stir in mustard seeds, mixed
spice, turmeric, peppercorns and cumin and cook for 3-4 minutes
longer.
- Add apples, vinegar and sugar to
pan, bring to simmering and simmer, uncovered, for 1 hour or until
chutney is thick.
- Spoon chutney into hot sterilized
jars and seal and label when cold.
Makes 2 x 250 g
